We have 106 Deliverables. What can The Academy and Grays do to help?
The Construction Skills Academy delivers 10 week Traineeships. Successful Trainees then go on to receive an Apprenticeship with Grays Dry Lining. Grays works with local Councils, local Communities and local Job Centre Plus’ to ensure its Main Contractor clients are meeting part or all of their 106 commitments as part of agreed Planning Commitments.

What is a Traineeship and how does this benefit our business?
A Traineeship is a 10 week training course covering four weeks of practical learning and instruction, two weeks in College and four weeks on site work experience. It delivers a Level I NVQ in Health and Safety, a CSCS Card and Functional Skills, including Maths, English and Employability. Many 106 Deliverables Schedules include Traineeships and Traineeships leading to Apprenticeships.

What is an Apprenticeship and how can they benefit our business?
Grays offers full time employment, a competitive wage and an Level II NVQ in Interior Systems - Dry Lining through Cskills. The Apprenticeship lasts two years and is often a key 106 deliverable for Main Contractors. Grays not only delivers the Apprenticeship but also, importantly, retains the Apprentice as part of a new Career in Construction.

How do we work with The Academy?
Grays Dry Lining provides a Tender from a Specification or Bill of Quantities provided by the client. The Client also provides Grays with its Section 106 Deliverables if it wishes to engage with The Construction Skills Academy. The benefits of The Academy’s Trainees and Apprentices is part of the Grays service once a Contract is agreed.

How do you monitor the Apprentices?
We have a team of Assessors from our partner Colleges who work with the Training Manager. Grays also provides a Mentor to each group of Apprentices on site. This is backed up by Day Release to College as part of the NVQ.

Can this system ensure a high quality of work and finishing?
We train and deliver a high quality fixer to site as an Apprentice. They are supported by the Grays team and the College team. Remember they are an Apprentice and as such are also learning everyday. Our 10 week Traineeship is of course intensive and we have a track record of producing high quality technicians for those that are prepared to study and work hard.

How do you work with the community to which we have 106 deliverables?
We work with Local and Borough Councils, the DWP and through our partner Colleges to find people who are well matched to being a Trainee and then an Apprentice. Grays also works in the Community and can build and host local events on site or in local community centres or meeting places.
